Spring 2017 Partnership with AF3IRM LA, FEMINIST UPRISING

This image appeared in FEMINIST UPRISING, a retrospective of three years of Las Fotos Project student photography documenting the International Women’s Day March and Rally in Los Angeles, organized by the grassroots women’s collective known as AF3IRM.

Beginning in 2015, Los Angeles has joined women’s movements worldwide with this annual commemoration of International Women’s Day, led by AF3IRM LA. The march has purposefully centered the experiences and voices of women of color – calling on the end to the genocide of womankind, especially violence against women and state violence, pushing communities of color to imagine what genuine liberation looks like, and urging all to engage in the Feminist Uprising.
