“I will always have a place in my heart for Las Fotos Project because they showed me to go after what I want and be confident. Every time I push myself out of my comfort zone in the future, I will thank LFP for helping me find that courage and confidence.”

Las Fotos Project's mission is to elevate the voices of teenage girls & gender-expansive youth from communities of color through photography and mentoring, empowering them to channel their creativity for the benefit of themselves, their community, and future careers.
Las Fotos Project began as a small workshop series offered to girls through community organizations at locations across LA. Over time, we’ve evolved into an anchor of creativity and community in Boyle Heights creating ripples of impact across Los Angeles.
As we celebrate our fifteenth year we’re proud to be building something powerful and needed—centering the boundless creativity of young people to reshape our communities and transform the creative sector in Los Angeles and beyond.
Today, many of our alumni are thriving as working creatives or are pursuing careers in arts and social change. More than half of our staff are proud alumni of our programs, embodying the spirit of healing, narrative change, confidence, and cultural courage that drives our work.

Support
By donating to Las Fotos Project, you are ensuring that young people emerge from Las Fotos Project ready to lead and launch into a future of their own design. Our free programs break down barriers to arts education, leadership development, and professional training but even more importantly unlock agency, advocacy, and acceptance within young people. That experience leads to confidence and transformation- for individuals, families, and across Los Angeles.
IMPACT
Las Fotos Project is a driving force within the creative economy, inspiring young people—often from families where immigrant parents may hesitate about creative careers—to pursue opportunities in design, photography, storytelling, and mass media.
Since our launch, more than 2,000 young artists have completed our photography education classes, resulting in an estimated 150,000 photographs created. Volunteer mentors have donated nearly 9,045 hours of their time working one one-on-one with our artists.
But what brings us most pride and joy overall is that our alumni share that Las Fotos Project gave them the safety to explore and the freedom to grow. We are now a thriving, growing community of young women and gender expansive creatives and leaders helping Los Angeles develop into a city of opportunity and creativity for all.
