The Creative Career CEnter

Introducing the Creative Career Center

The Creative Career Center (CCC), Las Fotos Project's multifaceted initiative aiming to reach 19 to 25-year-old women-identified and gender-expansive photographers, builds on the organization's mission to provide historically underrepresented young women and nonbinary people of color the resources necessary to be competitive candidates in today's creative economy. The Creative Career Center assists young adults seeking support in the early stages of their photography and creative careers.

Through the CCC, we have developed our own cohort model for participants to immerse themselves in professional development through a range of program-based elements.

Elements of the Creative Career CEnter

  • Cohort Model

Participate in a cohort model designed to equip a collective of young adults seeking to develop their technical and professional skills as creatives in the photography field

  • Career Coaching

Youth are paired with a career coach who helps them define their goals, set S.M.A.R.T. goals, and guides them toward success in their creative career path

  • Professional Development Workshops

Regularly scheduled workshops taught by outside experts to supplement and build on the photographer's industry knowledge and skill set

  • Field Trips & Studio Visits

Schedule studio visits and other relevant field trips to expose students to possible career paths and provide hands-on learning opportunities

  • Client Gigs

Participants are hired for high-visibility photography jobs such as brand books, celebrity events, and influencer collaborations

The CCC Aims to solve historical barriers to employment and career success that the participants face and ensure students are self-aware, confident in their skills, and industry-ready.

Emerging Creatives

In this 8-week program, emerging creatives will learn the essentials of studio equipment and lighting, foundations of event photography, and entrepreneurial skills such as pricing and marketing your services. Participants will also receive paid hands-on job opportunities through LFP's social enterprise. Upon completion, emerging creatives will be paired with a career coach to serve as an accountability partner while participants work towards a career goal.

Classes begin on Saturday, 10/19, and conclude on Saturday, 12/14. Classes meet twice per week on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:15 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 12:30 pm

Career Coaches

Volunteer career coaches are paired with one emerging creative to assist them in setting short-term and long-term professional objectives for their budding creative career. Career coaches meet in-person or virtually with emerging photographers at least once per month for a minimum commitment of six months. Together, the coach and emerging creative choose the focus of each session.
