A WOMAN’S WORK

A Woman’s Work showcases photographs by fifteen students of Las Fotos Project who have been documenting women in their workplaces since April of 2017. The artists highlight an eclectic mix of individuals at different stages in their careers and walks of life to explore the various occupations that women undertake.

The women featured provide snapshots of exciting and fulfilling careers, vocations and callings either at home or in the workplace. From stay-at-home mothers, florists and street vendors to a piñata maker and a vice president of a major media company, they display different kinds of victories. They are passionate about their contributions to their families and communities, always uplifting those around them. This exhibition invites the viewer to think about success, power and gender roles, and to be inspired by the complexities involved in women’s work.

The photographs reveal the concept of being a career woman as something that is open-ended, and beautiful. Whether it is a social construct or a mere label, being a working woman can be a perspective or a choice as her work gracefully permeates everyday life.
