About the exhibition:
Las Fotos Project proudly presents Looking Glass: A Group Show Featuring Teaching Artists, Mentors, and Staff. This exhibition showcases various stories through a diverse array of perspectives that make up the heart of Las Fotos Project. Looking Glass began as an idea to celebrate up-and-coming LA-based photographers and quickly expanded to paying homage to Las Fotos Project’s growing community of artists. Featuring work created from 2014 to today, Looking Glass tells visual stories about grief, culture, mental health, identity, and more. Experience each artist's unique stories through their eyes and their connection to Las Fotos Project.
For over a decade, the Las Fotos Project team has worked alongside these dedicated and passionate artists who have provided mentorship and support for young, emerging artists in Los Angeles. Through either mentorship, volunteering, learning, or teaching, each featured artist is not only extremely talented but passionate about redefining and creating new artistic spaces.
These are Los Angeles’ artists.

About Las Fotos PRoject:
Las Fotos Project was founded in 2010 by artist Eric V. Ibarra who noticed a lack of photography spaces for young girls in East Los Angeles. Las Fotos Project’s mission is to elevate the voices of teenage girls and gender-expansive youth from communities of color through photography and mentoring, empowering them to channel their creativity for the benefit of themselves, their community, and their future careers.
Las Fotos Project was launched to provide opportunities for those who are both systemically and socially silenced to make themselves heard and, in the process, advocate for social change and create their own pathways to successful, creative futures. Our program model further reinforces photography’s inherent ability to spark introspection, evoke deeper meaning, and serve as a catalyst for change by placing students at the heart of social justice efforts in their respective communities.
