This image was created to display my sentiments towards my culture and those who came before me. I am displayed in a traditional Mexican blouse, along with rose-decorated gold hoops. Both items are pivotal in expressing the pride that I possess for the community in which my father grew up in, as well as the community that has welcomed me with open arms. Although both items can barely be identified, the mystery of myself blending into the background conveys myself emerging from the darkness, symbolizing my family’s journey into American citizenship.
