Hold That Power Pose by Sandra Rocha

Spring 2016, Esta Soy Yo – Neighborhood Identities

A Mexican-American neighborhood means poder. A Mexican-American neighborhood means hard work, dedication, and the American Dream. Growing up in a Mexican-American neighborhood has been a privilege. My neighborhood is a reflection of who I truly am, and I will always love it. The authenticity of my neighborhood is what I am most proud of. The fact that I have not lost my culture is the best thing that can happen to me, and I plan to keep my culture alive in the generations that come after me.
