Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (“FMIC”) has an opportunity for a part-time Fender Play Foundation Intern during Spring 2021 term located in Hollywood, CA.

The Fender Play Foundation Intern will support the work of the Fender Play Foundation (FPF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with a mission to equip, educate and inspire the next generation of players. The FPF Intern will primarily assist the team with our fundraising initiatives, event planning, project management, using technology to tell our story internally and externally, and conducting research projects as needed.

About the Job:

  • Assist with prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors
  • Initiate and track grant applications
  • Help with logistics associated with event planning, including creation of invitation lists, soliciting sponsors, and helping to manage event details
  • Maintain donor and grant databases and files, including calendaring deadlines, logging donations
  • Generate and send donor acknowledgements, logging donor appreciation efforts
  • Draft responses to letters of inquiry and email requests for support
  • Work with Fender communications teams to help create and promote stories about the work of the FPF
  • Schedule meetings with potential sponsors and supporters
  • Support implementation of digital fundraising campaigns and events
  • Help tailor FPF presentations to help pitch to potential donors and supporters, specific audiences
  • Conduct research as assigned, for example re: benefits of music education, how to measure social impacts, and how to grow FPF’s network of supporters in Southern California

What you Need:

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year university, preferably with a major in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Foundation Relations or a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort working in a business environment with a diverse team of professionals
  • Experience volunteering and a demonstrated commitment to service
  • Strong working capabilities in Microsoft Office programs, database programs, research tools and electronic media, Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
  • Ability to remain flexible and manage change effectively with attention to detail
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently once assignments are given
  • Previous internship or related experience working with nonprofits, foundations or corporate community relations/social responsibility or Marketing teams preferred
  • Proficiency with all Apple and PC-based core work/office operating systems (Excel, PPT, Keynote, Numbers, Word, etc.., as well as with managing contemporary design & imaging software including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, etc…
  • Ability to learn new systems (Workfront and WebDam are what we use)
  • Creative Cloud knowledge or ability to learn
  • Proficiency in Spanish a plus
  • Interest in guitar/the Music Industry preferred
