Emily Grijalva

"The arts is something that should be accessible to all, and yet, it continues to be male-dominated or mostly available to affluent individuals. I support Las Fotos Project and The Foto Awards because it elevates diverse women artists and encourages young women of color to see themselves as award-winning artists!"

Emily Grijalva is a social justice advocate, a community organizer, and a maestra. She is the youngest daughter of Central American immigrants, and is the Restorative Justice & Community School Coordinator in Mendez High School in Boyle Heights. She holds a B.A. in Sociology with an Education Studies Minor and a M.A. in Education from UCLA. Emily is also the proud board chair of Las Fotos Project and works to engage community members in empowering youth.
