Los Angeles Public Art Exhibition

Public Transportation plays a critical role in everyday life for Angelenos. Nearly 75% of public transit riders in Los Angeles rely on buses as their “go to” mode of transportation, connecting them to their homes, jobs and vital community services. With many galleries, museums, and large cultural institutions inaccessible to our communities, we decided to bring our students’ art straight to the individuals we seek to empower and include in the narrative of our city. In partnering with Outfront Media/JCDecaux and Streets LA to implement a series of public photography exhibitions installed in bus shelters across the city we continue to break down more barriers as part of this Age of Change.

Age of Change Foto Book & Zine

Over the course of a decade, Las Fotos Project students in our various programs have documented themselves and their surroundings, offering a unique perspective of the world through the eyes of teenage girls. Their resulting images have created a beautiful visual tapestry which spans from Los Angeles to Guatemala. The talent and creativity of these teen girls has continued to inspire new generations of students. The Age of Change retrospective photography book and student-produced zine are a testament to these young photographers, who as high caliber artists, merit a place in our home and art collections.

The Age of Change retrospective photography book will be available for pre-sale soon. Sign up to be notified!

A Decade of Inspiration:Las Fotos Project Documentary & Photo Map

Above all, Las Fotos Project students have provided valuable insights as community storytellers and photojournalists. We have curated special images and launched #FromOurArchive, a look at 10 years of historic images taken by Las Fotos Project students through our Instagram account. These archival images will also be presented as a digital map, alongside a mini-documentary featuring students, mentors and parents. Join us for the very special screening of this mini-documentary and launch of our archival digital story map.
