In the Fall of 2011, Las Fotos Project submitted a proposal to the Employees Community Fund (ECF) of Boeing California, thanks to the invitation of a longtime supporter, Ms, Mina Martinez. In March the ECF committee notified us that our application was up for review. As you would imagine, we were thrilled to hear the good news!
Well, the good news got better when the ECF came to our Las Fotos Project Photojournalism Workshop at Animo Pat Brown High School in Huntington Park, CA to conduct a site visit. The committee got the opportunity to experience first hand the mentors and students learning together and decided they’d seen enough.
In May we received the best news yet, the Employers Community Fund of Boeing California decided to support our work and provide us with a grant of $3,000 to cover program expenses for the summer months. Thanks to the ECF, we’ll be able to provide free summer photography workshops to girls from Koreatown, El Sereno, and Montebello. Thanks, Employees Community Fund of Boeing California!
